Website Design

Mission:

A rebuild and restructuring of the website with emphasis on CVVIM's mission to provide free healthcare for uninsured and unhoused communities throughout the Coachella Valley. Provide a way to feature upcoming donation events, donation forms and latest news, along with links to organization's social media pages. Ensure brand colors and fonts are prominent throughout (emphasize brand consistency). Mission critical: Make site user-friendly and easy to navigate on various devices. Have the ability to translate the site from English to Spanish. Include a prominent "Do I Qualify?" button in header. Establish webforms for Patient, General Volunteer and Medical Volunteer applications.

Exploration:

Performed survey of client's existing website (code, structure, UI/UX, embeds) and shared notes detailing areas to improve upon, elements that could be backburnered and enhancements based on client's initial requests. Established staging site so client could view development progress in real time. Rebuilt website using WordPress utilizing plugins, modules and custom code to structure theme to client's requirements. Recommended webforms vs .pdf dl's to modernize application process. Client noted receiving spam webform submissions; enabled features (honeypot) to deter bots, and field restrictions and IP tracking/keyword blocks to stop manual spam. Extras: Suggested/added accessibility options; updated privacy and opt-out policies; included site help/contact webmaster options.

Development timeframe: EDOC 6-8 weeks.

Liftoff:

Site launch and beta testing accomplished in the wee hours on DOC to minimize impact to users (Week 7). Additional revisions and code tweaks performed as needed. Client kindly opted in to Monthly Site Maintenance that includes manual security scans, address server-side issues and user inquiries, hosting/billing issues, content uploads, new page builds, custom code fixes, and any other site-related service.

Splashdown:

Also developed two secondary sites for this client, a Member's Only site and CVcollab.org, a hub for organizations that provide services to those in the Coachella Valley area in need of health care, showers, temporary housing, food and financial assistance.
